EMC test is also called electromagnetic compatibility, refers to the electronic products in the electromagnetic field interference size (EMI) and anti-interference ability (EMS) of the comprehensive evaluation, is one of the most important indicators of product quality, for the power adapter products are also applicable. At present, the international common EMC standard is mainly IEC1000-4, which includes pulse-type interference test, test items related to the quality of the power supply, including electric field sensitivity test and magnetic field sensitivity test, the standard has developed more than 20 sub-standard, and the international commonly used in the main four.
I. IEC1000-4-2 Electrostatic discharge
Electrostatic discharge immunity test is to test the ability of the equipment to resist static electricity, but also to test the ability of the equipment to resist high-frequency interference.
There are two methods of discharge in the test, one is direct discharge, the other is indirect discharge (air discharge). Direct discharge is a charged probe and the test object in direct contact, and produce a discharge, this discharge is more energy. Indirect discharge is to make the charged probe and the test object to maintain a certain distance (through the probe structure to realize), through the breakdown of the air to produce a discharge. The number of tests is generally 10 for each point.
II. IEC1000-4-3 radiated electromagnetic field
(1) Test purpose The immunity test of radiated electromagnetic field is to check the sensitivity of the equipment to space electromagnetic field.
(2) test method in the darkroom with an antenna radiation of a high-frequency sinusoidal wave, so that the test equipment to achieve a certain specified field strength, in order to test the equipment to the degree of sensitivity to high-frequency.
(3) Test level The test of radiated electromagnetic field is divided into three levels, the test voltage is 1V/m, 3V/m and 10V/m respectively.
(4) Test frequency range The standard specifies that the test frequency range is 80-1000MHz.
III. IEC1000-4-4 Fast transients
(1) Test purpose Mainly used to test the equipment resistance to high-frequency pulses and pulses caused by various switches.
(2) Test method The equipment shall be discharged by intermittent pulses, and the equipment to be tested shall be able to work normally.
IV. IEC1000-4-5 Surge immunity test
(1) The purpose of the test is to test the ability of the equipment to resist lightning strikes and surges caused by the outside world.
(2) Test method Use a certain voltage level of pulse through the coupling capacitance of the equipment for discharge experiments, the equipment to be tested can work normally without being damaged.
(3) Test Level The test level refers to the amplitude of the open-circuit voltage of the test pulse, which is divided into five levels: 0.5kV, 1kV, 2kV, 4kV, and specified.
(4) Energy Range The pulse rise time is 1.2μs and the pulse width is 50μs.
(5) Main Hazards of Surges Surges are large in energy and can damage power adapter components, reduce insulation, and affect the normal operation of the equipment.
