Power adapter output current

Jun 06, 2022

The output current of the power adapter is its nominal current, that is, the maximum current it can provide. The current supplied in actual use is different due to different loads, but the maximum supplied current shall not exceed its nominal current. The output current and voltage of the power adapter must be accurate. If the equipment is powered by 12V, it will not work when connected to 5V. If 24V voltage is connected, the equipment may be burnt out. Therefore, the output current of the power adapter is large, but the voltage must be accurate.

The output current of the power adapter is different. It can be universal. The difference in current is only a matter of charging time, which does not affect the use. When the current is small, the charging time is long, and when the current is large, the charging time is short. However, this does not mean that the greater the current, the infinitely shorter the charging time. However, when the output current of the adapter is greater than the input current of the equipment to be charged, the charging time will not be shortened. For example, the rated input current of the mobile phone is 1 A, and the charger with the output current of 1 A and 2 A is used to charge the mobile phone respectively. They all charge the mobile phone for the same time, and the real input current to the mobile phone is 1 A.
